5 Natural Ingredients You Can Add To Your Beauty Routines

If you have been reading my blog, you know that I am obsessed with skincare routines. As a Saudi beauty influencer, I am a firm believer that our skin is the mirror to our soul, and what is more worthy of our care than our soul? Throughout my years working in the beauty field, I learned that ingredients don’t have to be chemical to be beneficial. Many natural products have been proven to be more effective than lab-produced ones. I have, since then, been on the search for the best ingredients to include in my beauty routines, and here are my 5 favorites.

Oats

While oats make a good and healthy breakfast, they are also an excellent solution for treating skin itchiness caused by conditions such as eczema, psoriasis, bug bites, summer dryness, or other seasonal issues. For this routine, you need to use colloidal oatmeal, which are oats ground very finely. Their use has been approved and recommended by FDA to help soothe dry skin. First, you have to add warm water to a bowl of oatmeal and mix them until you have a thick paste. Next, apply the paste to the areas that are itching and dry before removing the mixture and moisturizing the skin.

Green tea

I usually drink green tea in the afternoon as a source of antioxidants for the body. However, there are more benefits to green tea, especially for the skin. According to research, the polyphenols found in green tea work as a shield for your skin against UV and reduces redness and inflammation. In addition, green tea also prevents the breakdown of skin elasticity. Therefore, if you look for firm and plump skin, find a serum with green tea for the best results.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C boosting products are my all-time favorite. But did you know that your skin could get Vitamin C from natural sources such as fruits? Citrus fruits are the richest in Vitamin C, which helps remove blemishes and give you a great glow. In addition, it synthesizes collagen and protects the skin from any damage that free radicals could cause. In the cosmetics world, it is known as ascorbic acid and is used to fight scars and wrinkles. While Vitamin C serums and creams are essentials, some studies have shown that they make your skin prone to burning, so I recommend that you always moisturize and use sunscreen (no less than SPF 15) to protect your skin.

Licorice

I have always linked licorice to the tasty candy taste. However, I was so happy to find out that licorice extracts are especially beneficial for the skin. It is a good remedy if you try to get rid of hyperpigmentation caused by sunspots, freckles, or even scars. It is a gentle substitute to retinoid and has no peeling effects like glycolic acid. It inhibits melanin production and can help make under-eye circles lighter.

Witch hazel

If you do not know what witch hazel is, then no need to think of evil women mixing a potion. Witch hazel (occasionally called winter bloom) is a type of flowering plant. My grandmother used to tell me to use it after showering for better skin, and she was right! Witch hazel can balance oil production, help your skin get rid of swelling, and reduce redness. In addition, it is a perfect natural toner and can be used as a makeup remover that won’t dry your skin from the much-needed oils.
