5 Skincare mistakes you are probably making

In the past few years, I learned a lot about skincare, and I found out that many of the routines we follow are wrong. It took me some time to accept that some beauty products I am applying are harming my skin. Once I decided to do things right, my skin got so much better. Today, I’d like to share these mistakes with you so you can save your skin as well! Are you ready?

Mistake number 1: Not caring for your phone’s hygiene

You might wonder: “how is my phone’s cleanliness related to my skin?” Our phone likes to collect many microbes since we put it everywhere and hold it with our hands (also packed with bacteria). So, while we often wash our hands, we could forget to disinfect our phones, which keeps the bacteria growing. Furthermore, we tend to put our phones on the sides of our faces, which can put our skin at risk, and unwanted pimples could form out of germs. For this reason, make it a habit to clean your phone with disinfecting or even makeup wipes every time you wash your hands.

Mistake number 2: Not removing your makeup before bed

Sometimes when you come back home late, you feel so tired that you want to sleep in your clothes. While this could be an excellent idea, removing your makeup and allowing your skin to refresh and be clean is very important. Sleeping with your makeup on not only turns your pillow into a mess but can also be very harmful to the skin. A skin with makeup for long hours will not be able to breathe well. Therefore, keep makeup wipes next to your bed as a reminder to clean your face. It is an easy way to do so, and you can sleep without washing your face.

Mistake number 3: Moisturizing only at night

Back in high school, I used to moisturize only at night. I thought that it is best to skip day moisturizer as it could make my makeup oily and thick due to the many layers. I was wrong because when you allow the skin to absorb the moisturizer, you won’t experience any oily skin. However, moisturizing is essential; therefore, make sure you choose one appropriate for your skin type and be consistent in applying it.

Mistake number 4: Wearing sunscreen only when going to the beach

While sunscreens are associated with the beach season, they must be applied every day, even in the winter. Even if you are not lying down under the sun, your skin is still exposed to it. Therefore make sure you apply the appropriate sunscreen for your face after your moisturizer and before applying makeup to keep your skin healthy. P.S.: don’t forget to use it on your neck, shoulders, and chest.

Mistake number 5: Using the same moisturizer for day and nighttime

Most daytime moisturizers contain SPF to protect your skin from the sun. Night creams, on the other hand, are richer in moisturizing agents. Therefore, it is essential to use both and not use one interchangeably as it won’t serve its purpose.
